Vegetable Fritters

Fritters, also known as Bhajias are a classic snack of India.  A perfect side dish which is easy and fast to prepare.

Serves (4 to 5)

 

For frying                      Cooking Oil

 

Ingredients (A)

100 grams                     Gram Dhall Flour (Besan Flour)

2 tablespoon                  Rice Flour

¼ teaspoon                    Soda Powder

½ teaspoon                    Fish Curry Powder

¼ teaspoon                    Cumin Seed

¼ teaspoon                    Ajwan Seed

As necessary                 Salt

2 sprigs                          Curry Leaves (sliced)

20 grams                        Potatoes (chopped)

60 grams                        Small Onion (sliced)

20 grams                        Brinjal (chopped)

1 piece                           Green Chilli (sliced)

1 piece                           Red Chilli (sliced)

2 sprigs                          Spring Onion (sliced)

As necessary                 Water

 

Ingredient (B)

As necessary              Chilli or Tomato Sauce (for dipping)

 

 

1. Mix all the Ingredients (A), together in a bowl and make into a thick batter form.

2. Leave it aside for ½ hour.

3. Heat the oil for frying.

4. Drop tablespoonful of batter into the hot oil and deep fry till fritters turn golden brown.

5. Drain on absorbent paper and serve with Ingredient (B).

 

* Fish curry powder is a mixture of spices only. It is called fish curry powder because it is mostly used in fish and seafood dishes. But it contains no trace of seafood.
