Peas Pulao Rice

Peas add flavour and nutrients to the rice, it is very common for rice to have peas in them.

Serves (4 to 5)

Ingredients (E)

600 ml

4 tablespoons

Ingredients (F)

500 grams

 

Ingredients (G)

150 grams

Ghee

 

 

 

Cinnamon Stick                                                          

Cardamom Seed                                                         

Star Anise

 

 

Onion (finely sliced)

 

 

Ginger (paste)

Garlic (paste)

 

 

Mints Leaves (pluck the leaves only)

Pandan / Screw Pine Leaves (tied)

Red Chilli (split & finely sliced)

Tomatoes (chopped)

Cumin Powder

Fennel Powder

Fish Curry Powder

Vegetable Stock or

Aromat Powder

 

 

Water

Evaporated Milk

Salt

 

 

Long Grain Rice

 

 

Green Peas

 

 

1. Wash the Ingredients (G), and drain it and leave it aside.

2. Put the rice into a large bowl and wash it under running water for a few time; then soak it in water for about 20 minutes, then strain it.

3. Heat the ghee in a large cooking pot and add in the Ingredients (A), and fry it till fragrant.

4. Then add in the Ingredients (B), and fry it till golden brown.

5. Then add in the Ingredients (C), and fry it for few seconds, and then add in the Ingredients (D), and simmer it well.

6. Add in Ingredients (E), just enough to cover the rice when the rice is added later.

7. Boil it for 8 minutes and add in the Ingredients (F), add in salt if its necessary.

8. Once the rice is added, stir it occasionally till water level decreases till the top of the rice, then stir it and cover the pot; cook it in a low flame for 8 minutes.

9. After the 8 minutes, add in Ingredients (G), and stir it. And cover the pot properly and cook it in a low flame till cooked.

 

* Fish curry powder is a mixture of spices only. It is called fish curry powder because it is mostly used in fish and seafood dishes. But it contains no trace of seafood.
