Cumin Rice

Cumin is well-known for its ability to improve our digestion, not only that it also gives flavour and aroma.

Serves (4 to 5)

Ingredients (A)

1 tablespoon                        

1 tablespoon                        

2 teaspoons            

As necessary                        

 

Ingredients (B)

600 ml

 

Ingredients (C)

500 grams                             

           

Ingredients (D)

100 grams                                                                     

Ingredients (E)

2 teaspoons                      

2 pieces

 

Ginger (paste)

Garlic (paste)

Sugar

Salt or 1½ teaspoon

 

 

Water

 

 

Long Grain Rice

 

 

Ghee

 

 

Cumin Seed

Bay Leaves

 

 

1. Put the rice into a large bowl and wash it under running water for few time; then soak it in water for about 20 minutes, then strain it.

2. Then take a cooking pot and add in the Ingredients (A & B), with 600 ml water, which is just enough to cover the rice when the rice is added later.

3. Boil it for 5 minutes and add in the Ingredients (C).

4. Add in salt if its necessary.

5. Once the rice is added, stir it continuously untill the water level decreases till the top of the rice, then stir it again and cover the pot; cook it in a low flame for 7 minutes.

6. After the 7 minutes, stir it once more. And cover the pot properly and cook it in a low flame till cooked.

7. Then take a frying pan and heat up Ingredients (D).

8. Once it is hot add in Ingredients (E), and fry it for a few second.

9. Then immediately, add in the fried Ingredients (E) from the pan, onto the rice and stir it well; cover the pot and leave it in a low flame for a minute or so.
